Bois de Cise.
One Pill Box.
Bois de Cise does not figure in any of the books but on receiving a photo marked '1524 Landing 9. Bois de Cise: view south-east from beach, looking towards cliff-face (4041/82 S.E./489845) (8.6.45).
This was a reconnaissance photo taken a year after D-day. All French beaches were photographed and a report was written up for a future possible re-landing in France in another war, which thankfully has never happened..
Bois de Cise.
Bois de Cise.
Bois de Cise a wooded valley running down to the sea, there have been some very distinctive buildings here as well.
The postcard view looks to be a very early one.
Bois de Cise.
This is what it looks like today.
Pill box.
The 8 June 1945 NA photo showing a pillbox on the beach which is not there today.
Pill box.
The pillbox looks incredibly like a British design.
Bois de Cise.
The view today, all gone.
Bois de Cise.
The next house on the cliff. Note the beach defences are still there.
