Updated Wn454 La Vacquerie, Cherbourg (Inland), France. One of the outer ring of the Cherbourg defences, a small Wn with 1- H622 twin group bunker, 1- H630 machine-gun emplacement with an armoured plate & 1- H629 anti-tank gun bunker. A nice mix of types. There should also be a Tobruk but so far we have not found it.
Note
When I started my website I used the H suffix HEER. A well known book of the time used H and I unfortunately copied it. Now the revised book has corrected its mistake to R. I unfortunately would have to scour every page of my website and adjust all H's for R's. This I am not going to do so the H suffix will remain for the near future.

New for no reason at all except I have been off work with Flu. I started to look at the remains of WW2 airfields in Egypt on Google Earth. Knowing they were being built at the same time as airfields here in Britain and wondering if there was any similarity, I have found many. They like here have been remodeled by later use. Some remains can still be seen from the air and identified. Several postwar conflicts between Egypt & its neighbours have meant that lots survived but the latest round has been the replacement of Russian fighters for a new breed of US fighters and they seem to have needed new airfields. I see one wartime field has been completely obliterated to accommodate these new jets.
The three are :
RAF Abu Sueir
RAF Cairo West
RAF Kilo 17
I have no real information on them but if I find out any more I will gradually add to it.
