Stanton air raid shelter.
Made by the Stanton Ironworks Co.
The picture reminded me at the time of a beached Whale skeleton.

221 - Quarters C.O. - C.B. - 9023/41.
The C.O. of an air station was often a Wing Commander, he would usually have finished his flying carrier and gone on to pastures new. His job was to run the airfield and its attached dispersed camps. He would also be in charge of the defence of the airfield and command from a Battle HQ. His job was to keep a smooth running [ship], he had nothing to do with the general flying of whatever squadrons that used his base. Discipline was another area that came under him. So a very important man on an airfield. He would have had his own batman/servant who looked after him in his hut. Who maintaining the officer's uniform and personal equipment as a valet, some times his driver (if he could drive), and other miscellaneous tasks the officer does not have time or inclination to do.

215 - Education Block - N - 9886/42.
24ft Nissen hut with a brick extension, the education block was very important so that Airmen could work their way up the ranks and at the latter end of the war, learn a trade so they could find work in civilian life. Remember many RAF personnel joined as they left school and had never finished further education, but they could fly a four engined bomber.
