StP Gâvres Lo112 Ban-Gâvres

The defence of the village of Gâvres.

StP Gavres is made up of four Wn's, L0335 a battery of four casemates. Lo361 a Flak battery covering Lorient. Lo362 an old French fort and Lo112 a defence site for the town.

2 x R634. 1 x R633. 1 x R626. 1 x R502 (dome). 1 x R621. 1 x R612. 2 x Vf. 1 x Vf58c. 2 x 2cm Flak 28. 1 x 5cm M19 mortar. 1 x 7.5cm F.K. 1 x 7.5cm Pak40.

Group bunker.

A casemate for a 7.5cm Pak with a roof canopy.

A very odd casemate, a concrete crew room on the left and a wall of concrete on the right, an ammunition room underneath and a gun room with a large half round steel plate as a roof.

This is where the gun room with a half round steel roof fitted over the top.

The step where the steel plate fitted and the row of bolts that held the plate in place.

An odd steel square section to hold the roof on.

The entrances (left) into the Tobruk & the main entrance into the crew room with a close combat window.

Vf machine gun bunker possibly an early Atlantikwall structure. Behind is the R626 casemate crew room part of the bunker.

R633 emplacement for an M19 automatic mortar. A bunker designed to fire 5cm mortar shells at a high rate that would shower down on any target in 360°. The bunker has a crew room, ventilation, ammunition, close combat defence and a Tobruk defence.
