Alderney, M4 Wn 'Dohlenfest'

Alderney a small island off the coast of the Cherbourg Peninsular one of the Channel Islands and a Crown dependency. 3miles x 1.5miles. In June 1940 its entire population was removed and sent to either the other Channel islands or to Britain (most ended up in Glasgow). Then the German occupation forces arrived on the 2nd July. Hitler thinking that the British would attempt at recapturing, ordered it to become a Festung and later combined into the Atlantikwall.

Ft tank turret where the ball bearing race sat on the turret ring and no toothed gears. I would think this was a machine gun type and not a 3.7cm KwK type gun. A machine gun could be a Hotchkiss.

Periscope fitting 735P3. The idea of a periscope is a very good idea. There is only one way to look out of a bunker and that is through the gun site or commanders slit. So having a periscope which can also magnify the image and give 360° view.
