Wn Trou09 Fort de Criqueboeuf

An old French fort that looks as though it had five or six circular gun emplacements in a straight line. I have not had the pleasure of visiting Trou09 as it is well and truly in somebodies private garden.

The Fort of Villerville/Cricqueboeuf - (Généalogie Histoire Pays d'Auge)
This military battery is located on the road of the same name, Chemin du Fort, in Cricqueboeuf, canton of Honfleur.
Although situated within the commune of Cricqueboeuf, the fort is known as the Villerville Battery. It was primarily constructed of brick, including both the buildings and the defensive wall. Two large iron gates with four small rectangular openings are integral parts of this wall.
List of fort guards according to the Cricqueboeuf census records:
In 1891, the battery district is mentioned in the census records.
In 1896, the battery guard was Jean François Audic, aged 38, husband of Julie Lamy, 23, a schoolteacher.
Between 1901 and 1911, the battery warden employed by the Ministry of War was Eugène LASSERAY, born in 1857 in Troarn (Calvados), husband of Augustine JOUVIN, born in 1866 in Barbery (Calvados).
In 1921, Eugène CHATELIN was a warrant officer and battery warden, born in 1878 in La Coulonche (Orne), husband of Sidonie, born in 1886 in Plouezec (Côtes-d'Armor).
In 1926, Aristide DOUCET, born in 1879 in Cosqueville (Manche), was a state military employee; his wife, Augustine, was born in 1884 in Equeurdreville, also in Manche.
In 1936, the military warden was Ignace Govaert, born in 1903 in Rosendael (a former commune now part of Dunkirk), in the Nord department. His wife, Julienne, was born in 1900 in Coudekerque-Branche, also in the Nord department.
In the 1980s and 1990s, the property was inhabited by deer. Since the 2000s, several houses have been built on the land, resulting in the disappearance of the animals and the gate openings being camouflaged. The following photos date from 2012 unless otherwise stated.

A closer look at the gun positions and Peilstand with a trench entrance. There also looks like there were four smaller calibre gun mountings. To the right is another entrance into an underground bunker of some sorts.
