Wn06 Sallenelles is a small position on the east side of the river Orne. When the British airborne landed all around the area it held out for quite a long time until the Commandos (who took over from the Airborne) started to clear the east shore and take all the defences along this coast. Most of the survivors penned up at Sallenelles gradually retreated and worked their way back to cross the Seine.

A piece of higher ground on the river bank with its R634 six embrasured turret with a periscope. It could see all around the area as it would have been clear of trees and the 5cm KwK gun in its Vf65a/221 could give cover against tanks and also shipping on the river.

The 'Bunker' is/was a disco and sits in the river bank. Possibly the original route of the road passed by the bunkers, now the new road by passes them.

Hard to show here but the turret was to the right of this picture. The six embrasured turret with a machine gun that could be moved around to any of the openings and aimed by the periscope in the centre.
