Anse Sainte-Martin is a north facing shelving sandy beach. Not at all ideal for a full scale landing, but ideal for a small raiding party. The Atlantikwall had to be built from Norway to the Spanish border and here was no exception. A small Widerstandsnest was placed in the centre of the bay.

Mine Fields were laid out along the bay. .MF.20 covers the Wn305 defence and MF.21 the rest of the beach.

'Anse De ST. Martin, Beach of shingle with some low water sand. At Port Racine (X on the photo) the shingle is poorly sorted with some boulders up to 1 foot in diameter. Similar material probable on main beach'. .It just shows the detail of allied intelligence of the area. Beach - 45 Anse de St Martin. Sortie No.s 221, 223, 213, 227, 228,238.
