Wn310 La Roche Gros Mont

Wn310 seems just to be a lookout a small concreted FA Peilstand and very little else. Maybe where a look out could be kept on the channel between here and Alderney and to watch for Allied Commandos likely to come and make a reconnaissance of the area and maybe take a prisoner. There may have been a feild telephone to keep them in contact and machine gun inside for self protection.

 

This whole area was covered by the 243rd Infantry Division. There job here would be observation and the protection of a very large set of casemated guns and radar instillations behind them. And these are just a few: - StP351 Auderville la Roche H.K.B. 1./1262 "Stahl". StP356 Auderville Laye H.K.B. (E. Batt 685)., K.V.U.Gruppe Joburg, K.V.Gruppe Periers. Wn349 Auderville la Roche, Luftwaffe station "Ammer", K.V.U.Gruppe Joburg, K.V.Gruppe Periers. It just shows how important the area was.

This plan was updated daily by Army cartographers, they would go out in the morning, look for additions an then in the afternoon, up date their maps. This was very important as the commanders needed updated information of what was around, as and when they were going to fight their battles. It just turned out and unfortunately for them. That the Americans came in from the land side and cut them off here until the surrendered.
