INFORMATION:

Southampton was bombed very badly in the 1940 to 1941 Blitz and when Stoney Cross was being built they needed lots of hard-core to lay the runways on. The area around Hampshire does not have rock that can be used for hard-core. The answer was rubble from bombed out Southampton. It was transported by lorries up to here and used. This is where looking at brick rubble you locate Edwardian and Victorian remains and inset : is a piece of a wall that would have been around a front garden of a town house and Iron railings were inset into it. The car is just for affect.
